Trees, bark 6-8 mm thick, surface greyish-brown, smooth; blaze pale yellow; branchlets glabrous. Leaf-buds small, pubescent. Leaves simple, opposite or alternate, estipulate; petiole 8-25 mm, stout, glabrous; lamina 7.5-15.5 x 2.5-4.5 cm, elliptic, oblong, elliptic-ovate or ovate-lnceolate, base acute or attenuate, apex acute or acuminate, margin entire, glabrous, shining above, coriaceous; lateral nerves 5-8 pairs, pinnate, flowers greenish-yellow, in axillary and terminal tomentose racemes; fruit a berry, 2.5-3.7 x 1.5-1.8 cm, cylindrical, purple, pubescent; the peduncle red.
