Botanical Features

Trees, bark reddish-brown or ash coloured, rough, warty; outer bark reddish, inner yellow; branchlets reddish, lenticellate. Leaves imparipinnate, alternate, swollen at base, glabrous; leaflets 5-11, opposite, petiolule 7-17 mm, slender, grooved above, glabrous; lamina 5-15 x 2.5-7 cm, base oblique, apex acuminate or shortly caudate-acuminate, margin entire, flowers white, in axillary corymbose panicles; fruit a capsule, globose, bright red, seed one, yellowish-brown, white fleshy aril.
