Evergreen trees, shoots with conspicuous terminal buds; but shoots without rings of bud scale: Leaves alternate, leaves not clustered, more broadly elliptic, 10-16 x 3-6cm, lateral veins 5-7 pairs, often impressed above, densely pubescent beneath; perianth pubescentF:Flowersin axillary panicles often clustered near branch ends. Perianth segments 6, erect, rigid. Fertile stamens 9 with 4-celled anthers, outer 6 introse, inner 3 extrose:Fruit ellipsoid, enclosed at base by appressed hardened persistent perianth segments.
